Traditions of Harvesting: Threshing the CornThis movie shows the threshing of wheat used to make long straw. The wheat is passed through the drum of threshing machine to make the straw into yealms which are then taken away by horse and cart. This is one of many projects we undertake at the Weald and Downland Museum, West Sussex, to demonstrate the traditions of thatching, from growing and harvesting wheat, to thatching a historic building. |
